"This report presents findings from the pilot study of the Sustainable Livelihood and Education in the Pacific (SLEP) project that was conducted in Tonga between June 2006 and February 2007. This is an NZAID-funded study and was conducted in partnership with the Tonga Ministry of Education. The Kakala Research Framework, research ethics and the Tongan research tools of talanoa (sharing stories) and nofo (stay/visit) guided the study. The researchers for this project were all Tongans. This was an opportunity to pilot a new way of understanding hardship in Tonga and how education can alleviate it"--Summary.
