500 ## - GENERAL NOTE
General note This is an oval carved wooden bowl with a prominent rim. It has been carved entirely from one piece of wood. The kumete is low in height, and long in width. It takes the form of a oval where the rim tapers outwards from the smaller oval-shaped base. Hafted nicks feature across the base inside the kumete defining a tool that would have been used to create the kumete. The interior and exterior of the kumete have been smoothed and present a grainy texture from the wood. The sides of the kumete show rings of the trunk defining its placement before it was carved out. The longer sides also feature rings showing its possible placement on the tree. Its overall colour ranges from mid-brown to dark brown tones. There are the remains of tape or something similar on the bottom of the kumete.
