Summary, etc. | "Several factors contributed to the development of my choice of research study. A major contributory factor is my professional interest in the training of student science and mathematics teachers in the only Teachers' Training College in my home county of Tonga. I chose the training of science and mathematics teachers as my study because I have been a teacher trainer for four years. Also, although I was an untrained graduate teacher, I had been teaching science and mathematics in the secondary schools in Tonga for the previous eight years. The current Teachers' Training College in Tonga will be extended in future to become an Institute of Higher Educations (Government of Tonga Ministry Report (1990)). Therefore, an in-depth understanding of aspects of the professional training of the student science and mathematics teachers was considered to be of great value."--Rationale, page 1. |
