520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. "Pharmacotherapeutics for Advanced Practice originated from our combined experience in teaching nurse practitioners and practice in primary care. As a nurse practitioner and educator herself, Virginia P. Arcangelo, PhD, NP, saw a need for practical exposure to the general principles of prescribing and monitoring drug therapy, particularly in the Family Practice arena. As a PharmD, Andrew M. Peterson saw a need to be able to teach new prescribers how to think about prescribing systematically, regardless of the disease state. Veronica F. Wilbur, PhD, NP, joined the editorial team in the last edition, and her expertise as a Family Nurse Practitioner and educator added tremendous value to the staff. Joining the editorial team in the 5th edition is Dr. Tep M. Kang, a clinical pharmacist working in the acute care setting. As a past chapter author and now editor, he adds another dimension to the text. This edition continues to build upon the foundations of the previous four editions by providing up-to-date pharmacology and disease state knowledge underscored by a process and framework through which learners can begin to think pharmacotherapeutically. While primarily geared toward the learner, this text meets both students' and practitioners' needs by providing a user-friendly, practical approach to prescribing and managing drug therapy. The book has evolved over the years, based on input from students, academicians, and practitioners. Long-standing contributors and new contributors updated their chapters to provide a combination of evidence-based medicine and practical experience. The text considers diseaseand patient-specific information. With each chapter, there are tables and evidence-based algorithms that are practical and easy to read and complement the text"--
