Historically from the Kimberly region and Arnhem Land (northern and northwestern Australia, respectively), the didjeridu is about 40 thousand years old. In northern Australia, there is cave art of men playing instruments that could be didjeridu. However, Aboriginal legends date the didjeridu much further back to the "Age of Dreams" or to the time of the ancestors who created the world.
