"In February 2015, TongaHealth was appointed to the role of Secretariat to the National Non-Communicable Disease Committee and, as a result, is responsible for the co-ordination of the design of the National NCD Strategy to Control and Prevent NCDs 2015-2020. TongaHealth has adopted a best-practice, evidence-based design approach for undertaking this design (annex a), the first step of which is to undertake a detailed situational analysis that uses international and local evidence to, with full consideration of the Tongan context, make recommendations on the target groups, Target behaviours and intervention modalities that the National NCD strategy design should target in order to maximise reductions in the NCDs in Tonga.
